Applying External Media To Media Player...

Alex Alexei

Hello

Firstly thanks for making available such a great application. I'm a real noobie to this so please bare with me in case i'm missing the obvious. I thought I might find a sample file that would help me understand what I would need to do to achieve adding individual external audio tracks to the 'MediaPlayer' object from within the app.

Essentially I would like to achieve what you have with the "Storage" sample but with audio instead of images. However, I can't seem to get it to function or except the 'SetAttribute' to the 'MediaPlayer' for one audio file never mind the several I would like to call for use in the app.

Could you point me to the relevant sample or the correct 'Tools' and 'Actions' needed to give that functionality?

Thanks
Webz

Hello Webz,

Thanks for your interest and, please, sorry for the delay: I expend the day into the hospital and right now I back to home. About your question, I have two possible answers, one that I want to offer, and other than not.

It's possible to deal with local files using the Media Player? Probably, yes, using certain plugins for Apache Cordova, who can profide us the access to that files. However, unfortunatelly, this feature is not offered right now out of the box.

You can do it, since it's possible to extend App Builder's apps using Javascript and Apache Cordova plugins (also if they are not included out of the box), you can take a look at the "CordovaPlugins" sample (and "Google" for "Local Media Files Apache Cordova").

My intention is try to implement the required plugins in App Builder, but, I can't promise this can be achieved in a couple of days, and, right now I am also busy with certain familiar health problems...

So you can try with the existing Cordova plugins, use remote media files, or just wait for a possible implementation in App Builder "out of the box". In any of the cases, just tell me if you get stuck in some way.

Thanks again for your interest Webz.

Hey thanks David. Was thinking i'd missed something when trying to fill the media player source with variables. I'll certainly keep an eye out for when this feature is incorporated out of the box.
Thanks again for the great software.

Hello to all,

Just to say that the MediaPlayer control can now reproduce local media files also in Cordova's builded applications. More information in this forum's thread.

I think you post in the wrong thread... NO problem! Anyway I test with the sample, but can't figure out what exactly you wanted Eduardo. On the other hand... maybe you can take another possible approach to perform what you wanted. Honstly maybe the "SwipeMenu" are not a very good idea at all... or yes, but if they can be adapted exactly to our needs.
