I have not read your whole response above, but something is not right. I am not able to get the small tabs at the bottom to come up. I was wondering what had happen to them. Do I have some tool bars turned off or something. How did you generate your first image above that shows the read tab at the bottom? I cannot get that to display. Probably simple but ??
Thanks
Never mind I see it now Shessh!!
Thanks for that but I have lots of questions. Maybe I do not have certain tools showing.
I cannot find either of those two pieces of code you show. I see no such thing as a show event. I see nothing called a Load Event.
The only link I can see between the label and the file input is in the property called Visual Input. What is a Visual and how does it work with the label?
The image src value, is that the source image in image properties? I see nothing called src.
We will get there. Thanks
Can you give a bit more infor on how this app works. I can see it working just fine but for the life of me I cannot understand how it is happening as I see no code anywhere. No functions, coding on objects and even the label is acting like a button.
I must admit as I have not seen this before, but having a forum webpage index viewed through the browser as part of your AppBuilder program is a very nice concept. A great way to easily view the current information and be indirect contact (practically) with the creator of the program is a good thing in my opinion. It is certainly better than opening to a blank screen. Kudos David.
Perhaps you are already doing so but if you could post new releases here also in red or something that would stand out that would be helpful too. Just a thought.
Ok, I checked all the links and actually found a good one on Quora about why android apps don't have exit buttons.
I think I get it now. Android actually wants it that way. The app is paused and android needs more memory it will close the least important app, usually the one not used for the longest time. Very interesting. There are a few exceptions, GPS is one.
Thanks for all the help. I know more than I did when I asked the question so not a bad day overall.
Ok that was my original thought. But I sent my tipcalc app to my friend and the only comment I got back was how does this shut down and clear from memory. I know if I just use the back button on the phone the app goes away but I think it is still running as it looks the same with data when I go back to it.
So I am unknowledgeable here. I know you have an Exit control, but I do not think it is the same.
Any more thoughts are appreciated.
Appended
Ok I open the app with an exit button and then open another app and then go back to orig app and input data is still there so it must remain open.
However if I look in settings/apps/running I do not see any open apps that I opened.
Still confusing
What would you say is the proper way to shutdown an app so that it is not running in the background and not using memory.
What action should be used in a button?
Well that is all good information and from what I know seems to be correct. I guess there are no other workarounds out there as Apple has some pretty tight control going on. I am not sure about us having to have a max machine for the console as I don't recall that I ever had anything like that in my one attempt. my attempt only got me to where I could load my app on a certain iphone when I had the deivce number that was required for testing. If the console is needed beyond that then I am not aware of that part.
Can someone confirm that we need to download XCODE and load it on a OSX machine and what we would need to do with it when we had such a setup,
Thanks for all the help, your friend expecially.
Don
Ahh very easy. Thanks for that. Actualy, it is vey nice and pretty amazing. Everyone should try it.
Does Bluestack allow you to upload and run an app built by AppBuilder?
Well now we have a can of worms.
I will email you later my script with some notes about it.
In your sample database, I see you have alot of scripts located locally. Where does this database exist? Is it created on my pc when run?
Is it possible at some time to see a sample database that will connect to a remote server, login and access an existing database?
Then via the script on the server, make changes to the database, If that is what the current sample is doing I cannot follow it.
I would envision an app that selected the database name, table and field and then allowed a input to provide new data for the field selected.
If it can all be done without a script then great if not then a script would be needed. (I am not asking you to do that).
Thanks
I warned you I would have questions. :-)
A primary thing I would like to do with the app builder is to create an app that would allow me to update information in a mysql data base. I have other app that was made for me that can do that that uses a php script to accomplish the task.
I think it connects to the database, finds the record based on a primary field variable that is transmitted along with the new data for another field I will call status for this question.
I do have the script and can share it with you if that would be helpful. As you are aware I am not a php guy so my knowledge on this only goes so far.
I'm guessing they are using an httppost to send the information to the script. Once the script has the variables it executes and does the work. Again I am only guessing.
I am looking for something simple that would allow me to do similar from your appbuilder.
Would this be the way to proceed by interfacing with a server side script? Or is there another way?
Thanks for any help or ideas.
Well the link is to Apple, but it really doesn't give the clearest picture. I went through the process with an app I had created by other person a couple years ago and found it difficult to do at that time. Perhaps it is a better process now or maybe some know other ways to run on your local phone. Any info is good so we will take what we can get if any.
Thanks David for asking about that. I am hoping some folks here who have done the process can chime in also. And if they find it a good deal to sell IOS apps.
I forgot to menion that both Google and Appple take about a 30% cut of your selling fees as well.
i found this link that will take you to the place where you sign up to be an Apple Developer.
https://developer.apple.com/programs/
I thought I would open this dialog and see what it gets me. I have found that Android apps are pretty easy to install on a phone or tablet etc. Google just made it easy to do. Apple on the other hand not so much.
The only way I know to get an IOS app on to an Iphone is to use Itunes and their store. For that priviledge you need to cough up some dough to Apple. How much I am not sure but seems a yearly event and could run from $100 to $300. And if you choose to not use the Itunes store you have to install it on a Testing Device. See this quote:
"Yes, ahdoc distribution allows you to installed on up to 100 devices (including the ones you use for development), all you have to do is have the paid for developer account (the standard $99 one)."
Once you have a development license (that's the $99) you can then install your app on up to 100 devices, but you have to register them by some phone code number. To put them in the store will cost you some additional bucks.
If you are a serious developer than I suppose that best way is to pay the fees. That is what all apps in the Itune store have done and I think you can install as many as you want as long as you are currently paid up. I'm told the reason is to keep control of things and not fatten their wallets. Hmmmm.
So having said all that, I would like to know if what I am saying is true or if there are other ways to install the IOS apps. Or just any thoughts about the whole IOS app process.
Everybody can read the DecSoft support forum for learning purposes, however only DecSoft customers can post new threads. Purchase one or more licenses of some DecSoft products in order to give this and other benefits.
