John Clarke (In thread: Controlling the display of views)

I am working on an idea for a questionnaire system. Initially the user will be presented with a view that shows a set of instructions (the Main View). This view will have a start button that will start the questionnaire. When the user presses the start button the first view of the questionnaire will be shown. The views with the questions will have appropriate buttons on them (e.g. Next, Previous, Finish, etc). The Main View will have two roles. The first is to give the user instructions about how to use the questionnaire. The second is to collect the users replies and control the flow of the questions. When I say control the flow of the questions I mean a situation where we could have: Question 1, Question 2, Question 3. If the user provides one answer to question 1 the system may require them to answer question 2 when they press next. However, if they provide another answer to question 1 then question 2 may be irrelevant so it will show them question 3 when they press next. What would be the best way to implement this in AppBuilder?

John Clarke (In thread: Implementing a Count Down System)
If I want to display the timer on other views then I am guessing that the Timer control will need to set the values on each view it needs to display a timer on.

John Clarke (In thread: Implementing a Count Down System)
For various reasons I want my app to have a time limit on it.  However, this time limit will be dependent upon the options they select on the main form.  Once they have selected their options and pressed the start button a countdown will begin and the first form will be shown.  This form and every other form will show a countdown clock.  How can I achieve this ?When the countdown finishes the user will be taken to a summary page ?  How can I achieve this ?

John Clarke (In thread: Questions regarding Views)

I have a few questions regarding viewsLets assume that I have used the following code to add my variable to the view:

1. When I execute ReplaceView "View1" will all of the variables with this view be wiped from memory?

2. What would be the easiest way to clear the values in window.App.View2.MyTestClassInstance when the view is closed?

3. Can I pass a view to a Javascript Function?

John Clarke (In thread: Using Javascript in AppBuilder)

Hi David,

Thanks for your reply. I have a few more questions - and I apologise if they seem trivial\silly.

Views

1. Are all views automatically created when the app starts running ?

2. Can views be dynamically created (e.g. when I click a button a view is dynamically created) or do you just show the view (e.g. using ReplaceView "NewView2") ?

Javascript

My Javascript file has the following code in it :

In your reply you said that I can use any of the following :

and that these would allow me to use AB Actions too.

I am just wondering where I would place these variable creation statements?

1. Would I place them in the "Ready" event on of the View (Master or normal view) ?

2. Would I place them in a Button that shows the view ? e.g.

3. Is there any way to refer to the current view without specifying its whole path (e.g. with something like this.View1) ?

Thanks in advance

John Clarke (In thread: Using Javascript in AppBuilder)

I have a number of questions regarding using Javascript in App Builder. I have a number of JS files that contain Javascript that has been coded using an OO Approach and other external files When I build my app where would be the best place to put these files?

2. Do I add the External Files I need (JavaScript, CSS, Etc) via the App-File Manager?

3. Will the files I add via the App-File Manager automatically be included in the "Compiled" directory for the App when I build it?

4. In my code (taken from a HTML File) I create an instance of a class by using code like

I know that I can add this code to a button. However: How can I create it as a variable for the view that I am on for my app (if I can create variables at a view level)?

How can I create it as a global variable for the app?

Thanks in advance.

John Clarke (In thread: Creating Custom Components for App Builder)

Hi David,

If I create a plugin where can I put my plugin so that it is picked up and included on the AppBuilder toolbar ?

John Clarke (In thread: Creating a Header and Footer Navigational Bar)

Hi Tin,

I was just thinking about your Navbar issue.  Perhaps you could do the following :

1. Create a navbar as you normally would

2. Add a coloured rectangle with your text on it below the navbar

For example :

John Clarke (In thread: Viewing Source Code)
Is there anyway to view all of the source code for the whole app in one view ?

John Clarke (In thread: App Builder's apps design questions)

Hi David,

I just have a couple of questions regarding things I should consider when I design the graphics for my Cordova App. These are as follows:

1. I understand that I should design my app based upon a minimum screen specification. Is this true? If so what screen specification would you recommend designing too?

2. How do we deal with accessibility issues in our app (e.g. Fonts, Font Sizes, Colours, etc)?

Thanks in advance

John Clarke (In thread: RichText Editor for inclusion in my App)
Hi,    I am looking for a RichText editor that I can include in my app.  Ideally it will be able to generate HTML.Thanks in advance.John

John Clarke (In thread: Dynamically creating user objects on the screen)
I have an idea regarding dynamically creating user objects on the screen.  Lets say that the screen starts with 1 edit box on it.  Below that edit box is a button that says "Add Edit Box".  When the user presses this button a new edit box is added to the screen.  If the user wishes to add more edit boxes the user just presses this button. How can I achieve this with AppBuilder ?

John Clarke (In thread: Downloading additional content from my app from a web based server)

Hi David,

Thanks for your reply.  The app will be compiled using Apache Cordova.  What are the names of the sample apps that you mention ?

Best Wishes

John Clarke (In thread: Using XML Files in App Builder)

Hi David,

Thanks for your reply.  Where can I find a good example that demonstrates how to parse XML using Pure Javascript ?

Thanks in advance.

John Clarke (In thread: Creating a Header and Footer Navigational Bar)

Hi David,

Thanks for that. It is exactly what I was looking for.
